MacShane has campaigned determinedly against anti-semitism (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnis... but I cannot believe this outburst. It really undermines his position and will affect the way his thoughts on the issue are received in the future.

Michel Massih was the QC who recommended legal action. Also, a number of Massih's comments could have been interpreted as anti-Semitic: the tasteless generalisations flowed in both directions.
