Reports confirm that Jesus May Ball 2009 was shut early after Cambridge Council intervened due to excessive noise. The survivor’s photo was due to take place at 6:00, but had to be moved forward by nearly two hours.

One student said that the organizers didn’t know how to react to the incident and showed a “complete lack of common sense.”

The police have refused to comment on the incident although  reports suggest that it was they who forced the night to come to a close.
Music was cut off from all the tents leaving guests somewhat bemused.
And this wasn’t the only issue of the night. A student has reported a “scramble for booze” as it has been suggested alcohol supplies ran out, and organizers were forced to BUY VODKA FROM TESCO.
Christ’s student Simon Holland told us: “We didn’t know what to do, so we just left.”
Several other students expressed their disappointment at the problems which cut short an otherwise enjoyable May Ball.
The cock-up comes on the same day as Trinity May Ball also found itself in an awkward situation as hundreds of guests were left queueing for over 3 hours, missing the fireworks.

Note also the committee’s comical misunderstanding of the definition of a “DJ set”, leading them to misleadingly advertise appearances by Hadouken! and Little Boots as if they would be live performances… Time for Jesus to finally shed its (undeserved) good reputation.

My fifth Jesus may ball in a row – and something like my 10th may ball in total – and I have to say this really was the best. Fantastic night. Designated smoking areas was a retarded idea – but luckily that law was a dead letter.
