We have an economy entirely dependent on tertiary and quarternary industry - finance, research, retail. All these things require skilled labour and by cutting £2.5bn from them, he's effectively dooming all these economies and hence the economy itself. Gordon Brown is not looking past the next election and it's very obvious. Seriously, if he goes ahead, Britain will never leave the recession.
