Before commencing his Tab career, Joshi wrote for left-wing culture magazines like Varsity. His double tenure as Editor saw The Tab end Varsity's long reign as Cambridge's most read news service, and went down so badly at TCS that their Christmas party featured "Joshi is a twat" cookies. His final term in charge was characterised by Toby Parker-Rees as "Marlovian in its engorged magnificence", however one commenter on the eve of his departure said The Tab had become "a satirical take on itself," adding perceptively that "you have to be pretentious to be part of something that meta."
